Appearances can be deceiving in a world where people often make wrong judgments. One should not base their opinion on the cover of a book or the fur of a dog. This is exactly the situation with Sonny, a stray dog who has a hidden treasure of true love and loyalty under his imperfect exterior.
Sonny’s journey began when he was rescued as a stray by the kind staff at Jackson County Animal Shelter (JCAS) in the last days of March 2023. As soon as they saw this gentle pup, they knew that he had suffered a lot of pain and neglect.
Sonny had the marks of his past, with cropped ears, long nails, a patchy coat, and the infection of heartworm. But despite the hardships he faced, he held no grudge. Instead, his spirit shone with love.
The caring JCAS team gave Sonny the best treatment and attention they could, resulting in steady improvements day after day. As he started to heal, a spark of hope ignited in Sonny’s once-broken spirit.
With each passing day, Sonny’s caregivers learned more about his affectionate personality. Whenever someone came close to him, Sonny would gently press his head against their chest, enjoying the close bond for as long as he could.
Soon enough, Sonny will find a loving family that will cherish him for who he is. The JCAS team will surely miss his warm hugs, but they will be happy to know that Sonny has finally found his forever home.
