Rescued Dog Shows His Thanks the Only Way He Knows How — With Hugs

Alone and frightened, a gentle dog named Mr. Snufflufugus was recently spotted wandering the outskirts of Copperas Cove, Texas, in search of kindness and safety.
Fortunately, local animal control officers found him and brought him to Copperas Cove Animal Control. Grateful to be rescued, the affectionate American bulldog mix immediately showed his appreciation by snuggling up to animal control supervisor Tamara Hall. Witnessing the heartwarming moment, staff member Victoria Watkins-Killebrew couldn’t resist capturing the scene in a photo.
“Victoria and I were in the play yard with Mr. Snufflufugus when he decided he needed a hug,” Hall shared with The Dodo. “He enjoys visits from everyone, but I’m his favorite. That means I get the best of his cuddles and kisses!”
It turns out that Mr. Snufflufugus is a full-time affection enthusiast. He quickly earned a reputation at the shelter for his loving, cuddly personality.
“He’s definitely a cuddle bug,” Hall said. “If you sit down, he’ll climb into your lap or curl up beside you. And when he looks up at you with those sweet eyes, you can’t help but give him the attention he craves.”
While he does enjoy the occasional stroll, Mr. Snufflufugus is a true homebody at heart.
“He likes short walks,” Hall said, “but he’s really more of a couch potato.”

After a photo of Mr. Snufflufugus hugging Hall was shared on social media, it quickly went viral, drawing a flood of adoption inquiries. Due to limited staff and resources, the shelter is now working to transfer him to a larger rescue group better equipped to handle the overwhelming interest and help match him with the perfect family.
In the meantime, Mr. Snufflufugus is soaking up all the love he can at the shelter, enjoying snuggles and training sessions with devoted volunteers.
This affectionate pup can’t wait to meet his forever family — and they can count on being greeted with plenty of hugs.
