A call came in to Paws Show from a train station worker who noticed a dog taking refuge under a bridge at the station. The dog appeared to be in very poor shape and had supposedly been there for around three days. Although the location was over 100 kilometers away, a team quickly set out on a two-hour journey to check on the situation.

Upon arrival, the rescuers found a Husky with an air of sadness surrounding him. The dog had been struck by a train, leaving him in distress. “He’s experiencing immense hardship and might not survive,” one rescuer noted.

They were unwavering in their determination to give him a real chance at survival. With hearts full of hope and minds set on a single purpose, they vowed to do everything within their power—no matter how difficult or uncertain—to protect him and fight for his life. Their commitment was not just a promise, but a reflection of their deep compassion and unshakable resolve.

The immediate priority was getting this unfortunate Husky to a veterinary clinic. Remarkably, despite his pain, the dog displayed a gentle demeanor. The team faced harsh realities at the vet, with examinations revealing not just a fractured spine but also a severe abdominal condition known as intussusception—often life-threatening. They named this brave dog Vova.

The following day unfolded with even more difficulties, casting a shadow of worry over those caring for Vova. He vomited twice, each episode further weakening his fragile state and intensifying the concern etched across their faces. Anxiety gripped their hearts as the fear that he might not survive became more real with every passing hour.

Yet, amidst the uncertainty and distress, a flicker of hope remained. They refused to give up, clinging to the belief that he still had a chance—that somehow, against the odds, he would find the strength to keep fighting.

After 20 days of dedicated care, including physical therapy sessions three times weekly, Vova began to show signs of recovery. Although still fragile, he received assistance to stand up, reflecting small but significant progress.

Three months later, a remarkable milestone was reached—Vova used a wheelchair for the very first time, moving forward with quiet confidence. Though his eyes held a trace of confusion, as if he were still trying to grasp the meaning of this new form of freedom, there was no mistaking the determination in his spirit.

Each small motion revealed the strength he had fought so hard to reclaim, and in that moment, his resilience radiated more clearly than ever before. It was a powerful reminder of how far he had come—and how much further he could still go.

The people who rallied to save him celebrated his journey, recognizing that every moment of life is invaluable. Thanks to their concerted efforts, this dog got a second chance—a fresh start with the promise of a brighter future. His rescuers expressed their gratitude to everyone who played a part in giving Vova the opportunity to thrive.
