Abandoned Puppy Goldy’s Remarkable Journey from Rescue to a Loving Forever Home
Fahrudin Caki Bravo, who started the Bosnian rescue group Saving Stray Animals, had a heart-wrenching encounter on his way to the shelter. He spotted a forlorn puppy by the roadside, and his instincts told him the little one had been abandoned. Seeing the puppy up close confirmed his fears and deeply saddened him.
As Caki got closer, the frightened puppy tried to escape, but injured back legs made it impossible. Instead, the puppy dragged itself to a bush in an attempt to hide.
Understanding the need to help, Caki carefully followed the puppy, later naming him Goldy, and assured him of his good intentions. Despite Goldy’s initial panic, Caki managed to calm him down and gently picked him up.
Before bringing Goldy home, Caki took him to a veterinary clinic. He realized how crucial it was to address Goldy’s pain immediately. Holding him in his lap during the ride seemed to comfort the puppy, making him feel secure.
At the clinic, veterinarians found that Goldy’s injuries were over two weeks old, leading to paralysis due to damaged nerves and significant harm to his genitalia. Though the exact cause of the injuries remained unknown, the consequences were severe.
Although it was too late to save Goldy’s legs because prompt medical care was lacking, Caki was determined to help him lead a normal life. Goldy’s spirit remained bright, and his overall health was good enough for Caki to remain hopeful. Driven by this optimism, Caki raised funds for the dog’s medical expenses and even built a homemade wheelchair for him. Once Goldy regained his strength, Caki found him the ideal forever home.
Goldy met his new adoptive mother, Jasmina Gerstner, about a month after his rescue. The connection was instant, and she warmly welcomed him into her life. Goldy now enjoys the second chance he deserves and looks forward to a lifetime of happiness with his new family.
