Mom Dog Walked 3 km Daily to Feed Her Puppies—Now They’re Safe and Loved

In the quiet town of Fowler, Fresno, California, a mother dog named Betty Boop had been making a heartbreaking journey every day.

After giving birth, she walked nearly three kilometers daily, desperately searching for food to keep her 10 puppies alive. For weeks, locals spotted her wandering, but no one could catch her—until one woman refused to give up.

Krystle Woodward, founder of Pinkie Paws Rescue, had heard about Betty Boop two months prior but hadn’t been able to track her down. Then, one fateful Thursday, everything changed.

“Betty surprised Bob during my break at work,” Krystle wrote on Facebook. “I ran after her when I found her lying down. My husband rushed with the truck, and we were finally able to rescue her during lunch hour.”

The relief of saving Betty Boop quickly turned into concern—she was still producing milk. This meant her puppies were out there somewhere, waiting for their mother, growing weaker by the hour.

That night, Krystle cried, thinking about the helpless puppies starving without her. Betty Boop, however, had only one thought in mind—getting back to her babies. She attempted to escape the very next day, climbing the fence in a desperate attempt to return to them. It was clear that the search couldn’t wait.

With Betty Boop’s trust gained, the search led to an abandoned estate. Inside the basement, the puppies were discovered—10 tiny survivors, waiting for the mother who had fought so hard for them.

Thanks to a young elementary school student named Kenneth Stoen, the puppies were safely pulled from the basement and brought to safety.

Now, named Amber, Citrine, Copper, Jade, Jasper, Agate, Carnelian, Pearl, Rubello, and Sage, these puppies are thriving. Soon, they will find loving homes, never having to struggle for food again.

“She trusted me enough to show me where her children were, and that pierced my heart,” Krystle shared. “That’s why I adore them.”

From an exhausting daily journey for survival to a future filled with love and care, Betty Boop and her puppies finally have the life they deserve. Their story is a powerful reminder of a mother’s devotion and the kindness of those willing to help.
