In an overcrowded Kentucky shelter, a small pregnant terrier waited for help. With limited space and her belly growing fast, things were urgent.
Thankfully, the Kentucky Humane Society stepped in just in time. Vets determined she needed a C-section, and Dr. Emily Bewley brought the dog, now named Momma Malone, home to care for her before the birth.
On delivery day, the vet team was ready. After just 20 minutes of surgery, Momma Malone gave birth to nine puppies — far more than expected for a small dog.
Though vets worried she might struggle to bond with her pups, she embraced motherhood immediately, caring for each one lovingly.
Now, Momma Malone and her nine pups are safe at the humane society and will be ready for adoption in March. From shelter struggles to proud mama — she’s finally where she belongs.
