Two dogs lying very weak on an old, torn mattress were saved from a fatal fate.
Despite the growing awareness surrounding responsible pet ownership, many pets are still neglected on the streets and must make ends meet.
This is the foundation called Proyecto 4 Patas (P4P), a non-profit organization led by a group of young volunteers who seek to overcome the situation of overpopulation and abandonment experienced by millions of animals.
By the time P4P arrived, both dogs were lying on a dirty, torn mattress on a street corner in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Brenda Alderete, a Project 4 Patas volunteer and rescuer of both dogs, recounted how they arrived at the foundation.
At first, they thought they were mother and son, but eventually realized they were two males. However, despite their weakness, when they tried to grab them, they became defensive, very suspicious and scared, especially Topo, the younger of the two.
Ultimately, Brenda lived with Topo and Gigo in their home for nearly two months , as the adoption center was overcrowded and there was no room to shelter them. Furthermore, it was unknown how the two might react to other animals.
After nearly four months at the shelter, and although they were both adopted separately, they were both able to be adopted . However, while Gigo went on to live happily with a new human mother, Topo struggled to find his forever home. After his initial adoption, he was returned to the shelter, where he remains awaiting his fate.
Share this, undoubtedly a beautiful story, with your family and friends. Let’s celebrate the work of organizations like this one, which are truly responsible for giving a happy ending to so many sad cases.
